‘It’s like the ultimate revenge’: Man shoots himself to death after stabbing woman in front of her children
A man who killed himself after stabbing his wife to death was angry about a disagreement and said he planned to kill her again, police said.
The 32-year-old man fatally stabbed his wife, 30-year old Annelise, and their two children to death at their home on Friday morning, police in the small farming town of Sakaichi in Iwate Prefecture told the Kyodo news agency.
Police said the couple were at home when they had an argument over their finances, and the man started stabbing his bride, who was pregnant, and then himself.
He then fell to the ground and began to struggle, according to a police statement.
Police did not say why he stabbed his bride but said he was upset over a disagreement about her husband’s financial troubles.
Police found the husband lying on the floor and tried to revive him but he died shortly after.
He was identified as Koichi Takahashi, who police said was a former employee at a small-town convenience store in Iwatobi Prefecture.
Police also said they did not know why the man committed suicide.
He has not been charged.
The couple lived together and were married in 2008.
