When you pay for an Amazon Prime channel, you can be left disappointed
You might have to pay $9.99 a month for Amazon Prime, but the retailer is also offering a free channel in the form of a new free-to-air television station.
The channel, which is named the Beacon, will air its programming in the Boston area and beyond, the station’s co-founder, Matt Dorn, told the Associated Press.
The Beacon is available in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and will be available on Amazon Prime Video, the channel’s website states.
The channel is set to launch with about 1,000 shows, and Dorn says there will be new content every week.
Dorn said the Beacon is a prime example of Amazon trying to create something unique.
“You pay for something that’s unique and we hope people will feel like it’s a way to get in the channel and make an extra dollar,” Dorn said.
“We think the channel is going to be a great way to start to make some extra money.”
