Phoenix man shot, killed by police while fleeing in vehicle
Phoenix, Arizona — A 31-year-old man was shot and killed by Phoenix police officers during a car chase Monday evening, according to Phoenix police.
Phoenix Police said the man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officers responded to a call about a vehicle running a red light, according the Phoenix Police Department.
They encountered the driver of the vehicle, identified as 26-year old Tyler Mancuso of Phoenix, who was driving a dark colored Ford F-250 with Arizona plates, Phoenix police said in a statement.
When officers attempted to pull over the vehicle for a traffic violation, Mancumos vehicle veered into a ditch, striking two police vehicles.
Police said the driver then fled in a white Ford F150 pickup truck and crashed it into a fence at a residence.
The pickup truck then hit the fence, where it struck two more police cars.
Mancusos vehicle then sped away, according, police.
Officers pursued the truck for several miles, eventually stopping it after the vehicle ran over several cars and a mailbox, according police.
Mancos vehicle, with the license plate AZN2L, crashed into a wall at the residence and burst into flames.
The driver, identified in police reports as 22-year of Phoenix resident Tyler Mascuso, was killed.
