Al Jazeera has been left with a handful of channels that have not yet been launched and some of its news content has not been available on other networks, like MSNBC and CNN.

The US broadcaster’s news channel, the mainstay of its business in the US and around the world, has also been hampered by its financial woes, including its failure to reach its subscribers.

“The news channel has a long way to go, but we have to start with a clean slate,” Al Jazeera’s executive editor-in-chief, Sami Al Fassani, told Al Jazeera.

“We have to build a new business model that will bring new revenue streams, new viewers and new viewers to the channel.”

Al Jazeera America is currently facing an internal review over the channel’s future, after a report by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) found that it failed to make it into a high-definition standard, despite having more than 300,000 subscribers.
