Dish Networks CEO to lead DirecTV Now channel guide
DISH Networks CEO Charlie Ergen will lead Direcom’s guide to launching channels on its channel guide service.
Ergen, who previously served as President of DirecTv and a founding partner at Media Ventures, will be in charge of Direcoms guide to channel launch and integration.
The new guide, which launches later this year, will feature all the channels, networks, and programming that are expected to launch on DirecVisions next-generation digital TV service.
The guide will also feature recommendations for users on DiretvNow, the service that will help them make a selection between channels and shows, and DirecLive, a streaming platform that offers a curated list of TV shows and movies.
The channel guide will be available in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, and Italian.
DirecVox, which is the company behind the guide, said that Ergen’s experience in the space will be a valuable asset for Direc, which has a history of making good decisions in the television and entertainment industries.
“Charlie’s background in the content industry will be an asset for us as we launch the guide and help guide our channel launch,” Vox told The Wall Street Journal in a statement.
“Direcom is going to be looking for a new chief executive to lead the channel launch for the next few years.
We look forward to working with Charlie to continue to create great experiences for our customers.”
